Sitting Bear

Starting out:

*You will need: Paint Shop Pro 7.04 or higher || Eye Candy 3.1
*The zip file is here.

Open the Sitting Bear and Fur files.

Selections will be opened by going to Selections > Load From Alpha Channel

*Set your Foreground to color: #835845
*Set your Background to the Fur pattern provided. Scale: 100 || Angle: 0

** 01 - Back Leg

  • Highlight layer Back Leg.
  • Load the Back Leg selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color (#835845).
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow with the following settings:
    Vertical and Horizontal: 0 || Opacity: 100 || Blur: 26 || Color: #000000 (Black)
  • Deselect.
  • Apply an Eye Candy *jiggle* with these settings:
    Bubble Size: 5 || Warp Amount: 6 || Twist: 90 || Movement Type: Turbulence
*Note: These Eye Candy *jiggle* settings will be the same throughout the tutorial.
  • SAME LAYER -- Load the Shading 1 selection.<
  • Brightness/Contrast -- Brightness 100 || Contrast: 0

** 02 - Back Foot Pad

  • Highlight layer Back Foot Pad.
  • Load the Back Foot Pad selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Brightness/Contrast -- Same settings.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Change the Blur to 16
  • Deselect.
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 03 - Back Arm

  • Highlight layer Back Arm.
  • Load the Back Arm selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Same settings.
  • Deselect.
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 04 - Body

  • Highlight layer Body.
  • Load the Body selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Change the Blur to 43.
  • Deselect.
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 05 - Front Arm

  • Highlight layer Front Arm.
  • Load the Front Arm selection.
  • Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern./li>
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Change the Blur to 16.
  • Deselect.
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 06 - Front Leg

  • Highlight layer Front Leg.
  • Load the Front Leg selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Change the Blur to 26.
  • Deselect.

** 07 - Outer Ears

  • Highlight layer Outer Ears.
  • Load the Outer Ears selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Change the Blur to 16.
  • Deselect.
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 08 - Inner Ears

  • Highlight layer Inner Ears.
  • Load the Inner Ears selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Brightness/Contrast -- Same settings.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Same settings.
  • Deselect.
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 09 - Head

  • Highlight layer Head.
  • Load the Head selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Change the Blur to 20.
  • Deselect.
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the Shading 2 selection.
  • Brightness/Contrast -- Change the Brightness to 150.

** 10 - Muzzle

  • Highlight layer Muzzle.
  • Load the Muzzle selection.
  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
    Contract by 1.
    Flood fill with the Background fur pattern.
  • Brightness/Contrast -- Change the Brightness back to 100.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow -- Same settings.
  • Deselect.

** 11 - Eyes

  • Highlight layer Eyes.
  • Load the Eyes selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black).
  • Deselect.
  • Apply an Inner Bevel with the Round preset -- Change the Angle to 0.

** 12 - Line

  • Highlight layer Line.
  • Load the Line selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black).

** 13 - Mouth

  • Highlight layer Mouth.
  • Load the Mouth selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black).

** 14 - Nose

  • Load the Nose selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black).

** 15 - Nose Highlight

  • Highlight layer Nose Highlight.
  • Load the Nose Highlight selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #FFFFFF (White).

** 16 - Tongue

  • Highlight layer Tongue.
  • Load the Tongue selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #C00000.
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow, changing the following settings:
    Blur to 4.9 and Color to #600000.
  • Deselect.

He can easily hold an item.

Just add a layer *between* the Body and Front Arm layers.
