Heart Bear

Starting out:

*You will need: Paint Shop Pro 7 or higher [written using 9] || Eye Candy 4000
*The zip file is here.

Open the Heart Bear file.

Selections will be opened by going to Selections > Load From Alpha Channel


** 01 - Legs

  • Highlight layer Legs.
  • Load the 01-Legs selection.


  • Foreground color: #8a7154
  • Background color: #bd9c73


  • Flood fill with the Background color. Keep selected.
  • Using your Airbrush tool with the settings below, shade around the legs with the Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None

** 02 - Body

  • Highlight layer Body.
  • Load the 02-Body selection.


  • Flood fill with the Background color. Keep selected.
  • Using your Airbrush -- same settings -- shade around the body with the Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None


** 03 - Heart1

  • Highlight layer Heart1.
  • Load the 03-Heart1 selection.


  • Foreground color: #590000
  • Flood fill with the Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None

** 04 - Heart2

  • Highlight layer Heart2.
  • Load the 04-Heart2 selection.


  • Foreground color: #000000 (black)
  • Background color: #920000


  • Flood fill with the Background color. Keep Selected
  • Using your Airbrush -- change the Density to 18 -- shade lightly around the heart with the Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None


** 05 - Paws

  • Highlight layer Paws.
  • Load the 05-Paws selection.


  • Foreground color: #8a7154
  • Background color: #bd9c73


  • Flood fill with the Background color. Keep selected.
  • Using your Airbrush -- change the Size to 32 and the Density back to 100 -- shade around the paws with the Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None

** 06 - Ears

  • Highlight layer Ears.
  • Load the 06-Ears selection.


  • Flood fill with the Background color. Keep selected.
  • Using your Airbrush -- same settings -- shade around the ears with the Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None


** 07 - Muzzle

We're going out of order for this step.

  • Highlight layer Muzzle.
  • Load the 08-Muzzle selection.


  • Background color: #d6c1a8


  • Flood fill with the Background color. Keep selected.
  • Using your Airbrush -- same settings -- shade around the muzzle with the Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None


** 08 - Head

  • Highlight layer Head.
  • Load the 07-Head selection.


  • Background color: #bd9c73


  • Flood fill with the Background color. Keep selected.
  • Using your Airbrush -- same settings -- shade around the head with the Foreground color. Add a bit of a shadow under the muzzle area.
  • Selections > Select None


** 09 - Eyes

  • Highlight layer Eyes.
  • Load the 09-Eyes selection.


  • Foreground color: #000000 (black)


  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None
  • Apply an Inner Bevel with the Round preset.

** 10 - Mouth

  • Highlight layer Mouth.
  • Load the 01-Mouth selection.


  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None

** 11 - Nose

  • Highlight layer Nose.
  • Load the 11-Nose selection.


  • Flood fill with your Foreground color.
  • Selections > Select None
  • Apply an Inner Bevel with the Round preset.

** Tip!

    When a tutorial calls for Eye Candy's jiggle after each step, consider skipping it. Different jiggle settings can create a completely different looking image, so why limit yourself to just one? Save the non-jiggled image and then you'll be able to go back to it and apply a number of different jiggles. Be sure not to overwrite the original!

My Eye Candy 4000 jiggle settings for the image at the top of the page:

  • Movement Type: Brownian Motion
  • Bubble Size: 5
  • Warp Amoutn: 5
  • Twist: 90
  • Random Seed: 225
Apply the jiggle to all of the bear's body parts: legs, body, paws, ears, head, and muzzle.

I used these jiggle settings:

  • Movement Type: Brownian Motion
  • Bubble Size: 21.26
  • Warp Amoutn: 4.25
  • Twist: 0
  • Random Seed: 433
