3 Butterflies

Starting out:

*You will need: Paint Shop Pro 6 or higher [written using psp 8]
*The zip file is here.

Open the Butterflies file.

Selections will be opened by going to Selections > Load/Save Selection > Load Selection from Alpha Channel.

** 01 - Outer Wings

  • Highlight layer Wings.
  • Load the 01 - Outer Wings selection.
  • Flood fill with the color #1196F3.


  • Switch to your Airbrush tool with these settings:
Airbrush Settings
[Ignore "thickness" and "rotation" if you're not using psp 8]

  • Lightly spray around the edges with the color #08609E.
    * You may want to zoom in a bit!

** 02 - Inner Wings

  • This is done on the SAME LAYER.
  • Load the 02 - Inner Wings selection.
  • DO NOT flood fill!


  • Airbrush tool - change the Size to 13.
  • Lightly spray around the edges of the selection with the color #08609E.
    * You may want to zoom in a bit!

** 03 - Bodies

  • Highlight layer Bodies.
  • Load the 03 - Bodies selection.
  • Flood fill with the color #404040.


  • Switch to your Airbrush tool - same settings - Size should be 13
  • Lightly spray around the edges using the color #000000 (black)
  • Deselect.

** Tubing

Layers > Merge Visible
File > Export > Picture Tube

Cells across: 3 ... then name it and click OK.

** Colorizing

Use your Selection tool to surround one of the butterflies
Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize .. to easily change the colors.
