Bear Hugs

Starting out:

*You will need: Paint Shop Pro 7.04 or higher || Eye Candy 3.1
*The zip file is here.

Open the Bear Hugs PSP file provided.

Selections will be opened by going to Selections > Load From Disk

** Note:

This is probably my longest tutorial. It's not difficult, just time consuming. I hope you find it worth your time. :)

** 01 - Hair Back

  • Highlight layer Hair Back.
  • Load the 01-HairBack selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #835845

** 02 - Neck

  • Highlight layer Neck.
  • Load the 02a-Neck selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #F8D1C8


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 02b-NeckDark selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #EB7861


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 02c-NeckLight selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #FFFFFF (White)

** 03 - Head

  • Highlight layer Head.
  • Load the 03a-Head selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #F8D1C8


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 03b-HeadDark selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #EB7861
  • Deselect.
  • Apply a Drop Shadow with the following settings:
    Vertical and Horizontal: 0 || Opacity: 80 || Blur: 2.5 || Color: #5D3727

** 04 - Blush

  • Highlight layer Blush.
  • Load the 04a-Blush selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #DB9A96
  • *Flood fill this selection TWICE*


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 04b-Blush Highlights selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #FFFFFF (White)

** 05 - Eyes

  • Highlight layer Eyes.
  • Load the 05-Eyes selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black)
  • Deselect.
  • Apply an Inner Bevel with the Round preset.

** 06 - Lips

I have provided the lips for you.

Make this layer visible.

** 07 - Nose

  • Highlight layer Nose.
  • Load the 07-Nose selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #DBB6AC

** 08 - Shirt

  • Highlight layer Shirt.
  • Load the 08a-Shirt selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #BA2885


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 08b-ShirtDark selection.
  • Brightness/Contrast with the following settings:
    Brightness: -65 (minus 65) || Contrast: 0

** 09 - Collar

  • Highlight layer Collar.
  • Load the 09-Collar selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #8D388E

** 10 - Hair

  • Highlight layer Hair.
  • Load the 10a-Hair selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #835845


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 10b-HairLight selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #A56F57


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 10c-Hair2 selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #835845

** 11 - Hat

  • Highlight layer Hat.
  • Load the 11a-Hat selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #8D388E


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 11b-HatDark selection.
  • Brightness/Contrast with the same settings.


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 11c-HatCircle selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black)
  • *Do Not Deselect* -- Apply an Inner Bevel with the Metallic preset.
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%

** 12 - Bear Body

  • Highlight layer Bear Body.
  • Load the 12-BearBody selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #C68873
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow with the following settings:
    Vertical and Horizontal: 0 || Opacity: 100 || Blur: 30 || Color: #9F545A
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%
  • Apply an Eye Candy *jiggle* with the following settings:
    Bubble Size: 10 || Warp Amount: 6 || Twist: 75 || Movement Type: Brownian Motion
Note: These *jiggle* settings will remain the same throughout this tutorial.

** 13 - Bear Outer Ears

  • Highlight layer Bear Inner Ears.
  • Load the 13-BearOuterEars selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #C68873
  • Invert and apply the same Drop Shadow, but change the Blur to 20
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 14 - Bear Inner Ears

  • Highlight layer Bear Inner Ears.
  • Load the 14-BearInnerEars selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #9F545A
  • Invert and apply the same Drop Shadow, but change the following:
    Blur to 9 and Color to #402224
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 15 - Bear Head

  • Highlight layer Bear Head.
  • Load the 13-BearHead selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #C68873
  • Invert and apply the same Drop Shadow, but change the following:
    Blur to 20 and Color to #9F545A
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 16 - Bear Eyes

  • Highlight layer Bear Eyes.
  • Load the 16-BearEyes selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black)
  • Deselect.
  • Apply an Inner Bevel with the Round preset, but change the Angle to 0.

** 17 - Bear Muzzle

  • Highlight layer Bear Muzzle.
  • Load the 17-BearMuzzle selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #9F545A
  • Invert and apply a Drop Shadow, but change the following:
    Blur to 16 and Color to #402224
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 18 - Front Sleeves

  • Highlight layer Front Sleeves.
  • Load the 18a-FrontSleeves selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #BA2885


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 18b-FrontSleevesDark selection.
  • Brightness/Contrast with the following settings:
    Brightness: -65 (minus 65) || Contrast: 0

** 19 - Arms

  • Highlight layer Arms.
  • Load the 19a-Arms selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #F8D1C8


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 19b-ArmsDark selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #EB7861

** 20 - Left Hand

  • Highlight layer Left Hand.
  • Load the 20a-LeftHand selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #F8D1C8


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 20b-LeftHandDark selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #EB7861


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 20c-LeftHandLight selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #FFFFFF (White)

** 21 - Right Hand

  • Highlight layer Right Hand.
  • Load the 21a-RightHand selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #F8D1C8


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 21b-RightHandDark selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #EB7861


  • SAME LAYER -- Load the 21c-RightHandLight selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #FFFFFF (White)

** 22 - Sleeve Trim

  • Highlight layer Sleeve Trim.
  • Load the 22-SleeveTrim selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #8D388E

** 23 - Bear Arms

  • Highlight layer Bear Arms.
  • Load the 23-BearArms selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #C68873
  • Invert and apply the same Drop Shadow, but change the following:
    Blur to 20 and Color to #9F545A
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 24 - Bear Feet

  • Highlight layer Bear Feet.
  • Load the 24-BearFeet selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #C68873
  • Invert and apply the same Drop Shadow.
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 25 - Bear Feet Pads

  • Highlight layer Bear Feet Pads.
  • Load the 25-BearFeetPads selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #9F545A
  • Invert and apply the same Drop Shadow, but change the following:
    Blur to 16 and Color to #402224
  • Deselect.
  • Apply Noise at 3%
  • Apply the Eye Candy *jiggle*

** 26 - Bear Mouth Line

  • Highlight layer Bear Mouth Line.
  • Load the 26-BearMouthLine selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black)

** 27 - Bear Nose

  • Highlight layer Bear Nose.
  • Load the 27-BearNose selection.
  • Flood fill with the color: #000000 (Black)
  • Deselect.
  • Apply an Inner Bevel with the Round preset, but change the Angle to 0.
