Little Penguin

Open a new image 100 x 100

Select the Paint Brush tool with these settings:
Paint the following using these colors:

Select the Magic Wand -- Tolerance set to 0.

Select the INNER BELLY/HEAD area of the penguin.
Apply a cutout with the following settings:

Vertical/Horizontal: 0 | Opacity: 50 | Blur: 7 | Shadow Color: #404040



Select the OUTER BODY/HEAD areas.
Select the FEET. (Don't forget the stray pixel!)

Add a new layer named CHEEKS

We will return to this layer in a few minutes. :)

Add a new layer named BEAK

Paint the following using these colors:

Using the Magic Wand, select inside the beak.

Add a new layer named EYES

Paint the following using the color #000000 (Black)

Return to your first layer (the body layer)

Select the Magic Wand - Change the Tolerance to 40

Click once on the white area of the body to select it. LEAVE IT SELECTED!

Change to the CHEEKS layer.

Foreground Color: #C47A83

Airbrush tool with these settings:


Size: 10 | Hardness: 34: | Step: 50 | Density: 100 | Opacity: 72


Click once on each side of the beak. (See below)

Apply a Gaussian blur of 2.0.

Duplicate this layer.

On the layer palette, lower the Opacity of the duplicated layer to 60%

Layer Opacity


New Layer - CHEEK HIGHLIGHTS

Change the foreground color to #FFFFFF (White).

Change the Airbrush size to 5. Click once at the top of each cheek.

On the layer palette, lower the Opacity of this layer to 75%

Selections > Select None

You should have something like this:
