** IMPORTANT
If you're using PSP 9, please download the current version of SBP. If you don't want to download the current version, you'll need to *reload the preset* for each step you use SBP. ** This only applies to PSP 9. |

Open a New Image with a transparent background.
Any size that will fit your name. 600 x 400 should be good. I like to have plenty of room, so my new images are always 680 x 520 which basically fills the available work space in my PSP. Select your text tool. Foreground - Null. Background - White (#FFFFFF). Floating text. The font I'm using is Kismet-Normal, Size 150, Bold, and Anti-alias turned on. Use any font you want at a large size. *Remember, you aren't restricted to the maximum of 72 in the drop-down box. If you want a larger size, simply type it into the box. Type the text you'd like to use and hit Apply. Selections > Defloat Keep selected. Duplicate this layer twice (for a total of 3). Rename them (from bottom to top) Text 1, Text 2, and Text 3. On the layer palette, turn off the visibility of Text 2 and Text 3. Highlight the Text 1 layer. Effects > Plugins > Flaming Pear > SuperBladePro Navigate to the Matte Silver Twinkle preset and load it. Click OK to apply this to the Text 1 layer. Now, highlight the Text 2 layer and unhide it. Effects > Plugins > Flaming Pear > SuperBladePro (Reload the Matte Silver Twinkle preset if you're using PSP 9 and don't have the current version of SBP) Click once on the arrow for the environment graphic (shown in the screenshot below). This rotates the image used in the preset. ![]() Click OK to apply. Now highlight the Text 3 layer and unhide it. Effects > Plugins > Flaming Pear > SuperBladePro (Reload the Matte Silver Twinkle preset if you're using PSP 9 and don't have the current version of SBP) Click once on the arrow again. (Note, if you reloaded the preset, you'll need to click TWICE on the arrow.) Click OK to apply. KEEP YOUR TEXT SELECTED! Layers > New Raster Layer ... Name it Shadow. Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow with the following settings: Vertical: 2 || Horizontal: 2 || Opacity: 78 || Blur: 3 || Shadow color: Black (#000000) Selections > Select None Select the Crop Tool. On the Tool Options palette, click the very last button (Snap crop rectangle to: Opaque) and then click the checkmark. (I'm not sure how this worked in 7 or earlier. You may need to use your best judgment on the cropping. Be careful not to crop any of the shadow.) Duplicate your Shadow layer twice (for a total of 3) Hide Text 2 and Text 3 layers and two of your shadow layers. Merge visible. Hide the merged layer. Unhide Text 2 layer and one of the shadow layers. Merge visible. Hide this merged layer. Unhide Text 3 layer and the remaining shadow layer. Merge visible. You should have a total of 3 layers now. Save in PSP format. If you're using PSP 8 or PSP 9, be sure to save it compatible with PSP 7 so it'll open in Animation Shop. (File > Save As > Options) |
| You can handle things from here. You'll animate it just like any other glitter in Animation Shop. |

** Tips
Try other presets. You'll get some neat results, especially with golds and silvers. Rather than rotating the environment graphic (as we did in this tutorial), you can also use the slider to change the zoom for the texture graphic (shown below). ![]() Slight changes are best, but play around with it! My example of this is below. |
