E-mail me

With all of the theft and complaints about copyright, you're better off adding the credits to your images. The purpose of this mini tutorial is to show you how I add them to my pixel painted images.

Crispness is key here. Anti-aliasing is a big no-no!!

Here are the font settings I use:

You'll want your foreground color turned off and your background set to a light, yet readable, color. Don't use a color that is too light. If people can't see it, it's not only useless, but it detracts from your image because people's eyes are drawn to it and they spend their time trying to figure out what it says.

I always use the Century Gothic font, but I know it's not a free font. Here are some other fonts that look alright at a small size:

[Century Gothic and FFF Harmony are shown at Size 6. The rest are Size 8.]

Paint Shop Pro, unfortunately, has one of the worst text tools of most graphics programs. If you pay attention, you'll notice that fonts are rarely spaced properly. I'm a very detail-oriented person, so this annoys me to no end.

When I add text to an image, I *always* zoom in and correct the spacing. You might find that to be a bit too tedious, but I think it'll make your graphics look better!

For my credits, there is ONE blank pixel between letters in a word and THREE blank pixels for a space between words.

Left side shows text with the spacing fixed by me.

Right side shows the text as it is generated by PSP.

** Note:

If you use the Century Gothic font, you may not be happy with the copyright symbol. I wasn't, so I made my own. Feel free to pixel it yourself from the image below.

** TIP

Tube your credits. There's no sense in typing it out for every image you need it for.

I hope you found this helpful!
